Gear Search™ FAQ's
How do I post Gear?
- Click on the Manage Gear folder tab at the top of your Dashboard. To add one item at a time, click the Add New button. Enter as much information as you'd like about your item. Fields with an asterisk are required. In the Gear Attributes on the right side of this page, check the boxes of attributes that apply to the item. (Example: Clicking Refinished indicates the item has been refinished. Leaving it blank indicates that it has not.)

To upload multiple items, click "Download the Bulk Upload Spreadsheet .XLS". Open the spreadsheet and enter parameters for your multiple-item upload. When you've finished, you'll click 'Save As' in Excel - save the file as a .CSV file.
It is very important that you change the XLS file type to a .CSV as you save it!
You will next click the Upload Gear Button, and browse your computer to attach the .CSV file of your inventory from your desktop (or wherever you saved the file), and then click Upload Gear. You'll see a brief preview of your upload, and then click to Finish if it looks correct. You can post images by referencing the url of the image on your website, or you can go back later and post photos to each item individually by editing it in your inventory listing.
- Converting Warning Messages: When you save the .XLS file as a .CSV, Excel will bring up a message stating that some features may not be compatible with .CSV (Comma delimited) format. It asks if you want to keep the workbook in this format. Click YES. You may also get a warning message that 'the selected file type does not support workbooks that contain multiple sheets. Not a problem, you only need the front or 'active' sheet. Click OK.
How do I search for gear?
From your Dashboard, click Search/Post Gear Requests tab, in the My Account box on the right. Also, from anywhere in the site, you can click on the smaller, red Search for Gear link. You may narrow a search by a few or as many specific parameters as you'd like. You may also click View All Gear to see the sites entire inventory from all dealers.
How do I return to my Dashboard?
From anywhere in the site, you may click the small red Your Account Dashboard link at the top of the page. From most of the pages within the dealer area, you can also see and use the Dashboard folder tab on the top left side.
How do I upgrade my subscription level?
There is a link to do so on the right-hand side of the Dashboard in the Account Overview. You may also click Upgrade Now at the top of your Manage Gear section.
How do I edit the gear I've already posted?
Click on the Manage Gear folder tab at the top of your Dashboard. You'll see a listing of all the gear you've posted and can click the Edit button on the left of the item to be modified.
How do I delete an item once I've sold it?
Click on the Manage Gear folder tab at the top of your Dashboard. You can check the Delete button to the right of the item, or while you're editing one item at a time, you can hit the delete button at the bottom.
How do I change the password or email address associated to my account?
Click on the Manage Account folder tab, edit your information, and press Update Account Profile.
How do I place an item I like on My Favorites?
Looking at a Gear Listing or an item's Gear Details in a gear search, there is a button below and to the right of the item.
How do I view My Favorites?
Click the My Favorites folder tab. You can see your Favorites items side by side, and can remove items from you Favorites here.
How can I preview my online storefront that buyers will see? (Retailer/Dealer Only)
Click the Manage Store folder tab at the top of your Dashboard. Your Live Store Preview will come up automatically. There is a sub-folder beneath the regular folders, next to the tab for store preview, which allows you to modify any information about your physical dealership as far as the policies, services offered, etc.
How can I add my logo to my online storefront? (Retailer/Dealer Only)
Click the Manage Store folder tab at the top of your Dashboard. Click on the Modify Your Store Contact Info and upload your logo at the field to the bottom of the page. The logo, and all other Store Info here can also be posted during your initial set up as a dealer.
Where can I see my subscription history and financial transactions made with the Premier Guitar®?
From your Dashboard, click the View your purchases link in the My Account box. Transactions shown are dealer subscription fees and fees paid when you make your gear a "Featured Item".
How do I post a Gear Request for something I'm looking for?
Use the green Gear Requests box in your Dashboard.
How do I search Gear Requests? (Retailer/Dealer Only)
Searching Gear Requests is available only to dealers, and is an additional way to connect with buyers looking for something you don't yet have posted to your Gear Search™ online storefront. Here, you can View All requests posted by users, or you can perform a search within the Gear Requests. (This serves as a 'buyer search' for dealers.) There is a link next to each Gear Request that allows you to contact the potential buyer if you have the item that he is looking for or know how to get it.
How will buyers contact me?
Buyers click the link to Request Information while viewing the item's specific Gear Details or when they see it in a listing during a gear search. This opens a form, and the buyer will email you directly with his information and any questions or comments he has at that point. The sale is conducted entirely between the buyer and you.
How are sales completed?
Sales are done completely between the seller and buyer. Once they have contacted each other about the item posted on Gear Search™, the seller arranges the sale and all communications on his own.
How do I log out?
From anywhere in the site, you may click the small red Logout link at the very top of the page.
Instructions for filling out the Bulk Upload spreadsheet when using the .CSV option
You can now Bulk Upload your inventory into Gear Search using our new Bulk Upload Spreadsheet. GBase users can also now Bulk Export and Upload their inventory directly into GBase, from Gear Search - saving you the hassle of having to make item changes in 2 different places!
Gear Search Users
Gear Search Users can now either maintain a spreadsheet for bulk uploading inventory, or automate the process by exporting the data to us directly from your website.
Bulk Upload Spreadsheet
| Step 1: | From your "Manage Gear" page, download the Bulk Upload Spreadsheet. (please note that this is a .XLS file, which will need to be saved as a .CSV file for bulk uploading). |
| Step 2: | Enter the information for each gear item (using the drop-down options where they are available). |
| Step 3: | Go under "File" menu to "Save As" and save the spreadsheet file as a "comma separated values" or .CSV document. |
| Step 4: | Go back to your "Manage Gear" page in Gear Search, and click on the "Delete ALL Of My Inventory" button, IF you want to delete all or your previous gear listings. |
| Step 5: | Go to "Manage Gear" again, and click on the "Bulk Gear Upload" button. Next click on the "Browse" button, and navigate to where you have saved the .CSV version of your spreadsheet. Select the .CSV file, and then click on "Upload Gear". That's it! (images may take a short time to upload). |
GBase Users
Once current listings are up on the Gear Search website, GBase users can simply click on the "Export GBase Format" button to generate a GBase compatible bulk upload spreadsheet, complete with all the listings information, and images! (Just follow the same process/instructions as prompted to do so by the GBase website).
